How the Body, Mind and Spirit Are Connected
We have within us a magnificent system which connects body, mind and spirit. It’s known as the chakra system. Chakras are energetic vortexes which draw in and modulate life-force energy and information through all levels of our being. Ulti
mately the life-force coming in through the chakras is used to nourish the nervous system, endocrine system and organs, but it also carries information about emotions, traumas and thought patterns which affect the health of the physical body.
The term chakra is derived from Sanskrit and loosely means “turning wheel”. Like a vortex or maelstrom, each chakra draws in what it needs to refuel and inform the part of the system it supplies. There are 7 major vortexes which energize and animate the human body, and each one turns at a different rate, and the rate of turning or spinning is often perceived by clairvoyants as colors. The slowest spinning chakra is located at the base of the pelvis, and it is seen as the color red. Each one higher up has an incrementally faster spin and they are perceived incrementally as individual colors in the spectrum of the rainbow.
Each chakra reflects a different life theme, and it is important to know how to work with each one in order to achieve optimal health and wellness. The flow of life-force can be hindered at any point along its pathway into the body due to blocked emotions, trauma, or dysfunctional thought patterns. If this is the case, often the physical body or a life situation will exhibit issues which reflect this. For instance, a person who is experiencing grief, an issue which disrupts the flow of energy through the heart chakra, may also have difficulty breathing, as the lungs are nourished by the life-force which is drawn in through the heart chakra. In this case, it’s important to address the emotions of grief in order for the lungs to get a deep breath.
The body, mind and spirit are an intimately connected and constantly communicating system which can be modulated by working consciously with the life-force energy moving through the chakras. The more one understands and works with the chakras, the more healthy the body, mind and spirit can become.
The two themes which strongly shape my life are love and healing. Both are energized and inspired by spirit. I write on both topics from my spirit’s experience of my everyday life.
